Tarun Kapoor, MD, MBA, is the president of VirtuaPhysicianPartners™, a clinically integrated network created collaboratively by Virtua, Virtua Medical Group (VMG) and independent physician practices. VirtuaPhysicianPartners™ and its network of over 1,000 clinicians helps providers deliver greater value to their patients through better health outcomes and better management of cost.
Previously, Dr. Kapoor was the senior vice president and chief medical officer for VMG, a 500+ clinician multi-specialty medical practice. Dr. Kapoor joined VMG as a hospitalist in 2008, where he was the Associate Director of the Virtua Hospitalist Group, helping grow the practice from 12 physicians to its current size of more than 50 clinicians.
In addition, he joined Virtua’s Medical Informatics team in 2010, helping to develop and
implement its inpatient electronic medical record, including full deployment of CPOE and
electronic Medication Reconciliation. Since 2013, Dr. Kapoor has been the Vice President,
Senior Medical Director for VMG.
Prior to joining Virtua, Dr. Kapoor was Regional Director for EmCare’s Mid-Atlantic Hospitalist Division. During his tenure with EmCare, Dr. Kapoor developed 16 inpatient care programs for Clinical Staffing Solutions, which was subsequently acquired by EmCare.
Dr. Kapoor trained in Internal Medicine at The George Washington University Hospital, where he stayed on an extra year to serve as Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor. He obtained his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson, his undergraduate degree in Government and Chemistry from Cornell University, and his executive master of business administration from the Temple Fox School of Business.
